“A Good Laugh and a Long Sleep are the Two Best Cures for Anything”

What if I tell you that your stress, worry, and anxious behaviors or feelings you can manage and control?  The map inside your head is not the map or territory to make your life compelling.  Are you reacting to what you are trying to get rid of?  Are you taking one step ahead and then ten steps back?

Abraham Maslow, a psychologist, coined Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.  There are seven needs, and one must have the basic needs, physiology, and safety to self-actualize.  Stewart Emery defines actualized as a “means to make real though action.”  Self-actualized individuals are “Those who are continually discovering avenues of actions that provide them with unfolding, real, joyful experience of their own creative humanness.”   Stewart Emery is an entrepreneur, executive coach, and leader, and is considered one of the fathers of the Human Potential Movement. Simply, his goals for someone are to move them in a person’s life toward a more joyful and satisfying experience that benefits you, the other person, and the world.

What are you lacking in terms of your basic life needs?

How is your physical body or your overall health?  Are you the right weight for you, for gender and age?  Are you getting enough sleep?  Are you surviving in life with too much alcohol, tobacco, and drugs?  How is your blood sugar and your hormones?  How about your financial security?  Are your emotions going up and down like a roller coaster ride?  How is your faith and that feeling of purpose or mission in your life?  Are you giving and receiving love and connection with other people?

Taking care of what your body needs, help you stay calm with your thoughts to only focus on doing things to correct situations in your life that are going sideways.  Imagine what you see, feel, and hear in your compelling future in pretending that you already succeeded.  What do you want?  How do you know when you have it?  What would gain or lose when you have it?

Taking actions toward what you want to protect your self-esteem and self-confidence is the way to go.    Well, an apple a day does take the doctor away.  Eating to feed and nourish your body.  You prefer healthy foods.  Foods that support your decision to enjoy life peacefully and with joy.   See yourself drinking cool, refreshing water and have at least 8 to 10 glasses of cool, refreshing water a day.  It is immediately refreshing.  Are you walking, riding a bike, or swimming?  Are you moving your body at least 60 minutes a day?  See yourself in your mind twenty minutes into your walk and how this makes total sense to you.  You are going to feel great.  Daily exercising is a stress reliever.  It is easier for you to give to others when, your needs and priorities are being met first.

You can self-actualize. You can enrich your life and communicate with others in a more open, joyful, and vulnerable way.  You were born always good enough with a potential for greatness.  Greatness needs to be made real through actions.
